Libraries, Books, and Knowledge, Oh My!
A library influences the life of people in a number of different ways. It becomes a safe haven for a child who has a rough home life; a place of intense learning between study groups, or the area that many people call their favorite relaxation spot. Because libraries provide different learning experiences, librarians themselves must be held up to a high standard. This is because librarians spend a great deal of time to learn and master the skills it takes to help those that need the tools of the library, and the books featured there. The library supplies many different types of resources available to the public including community activities; reading groups, study spots, youth and children’s sections, not to mention knowledge!

Any one of any age can read a book and be transported anywhere in the world. The library is like a passport for people to go on adventures! Reading is the most important thing for children to get into the habit of doing while they are young. This builds the imagination, and with imagination people are more opened minded for learning. Reading is shown to increase a person’s ability to understand other subjects including math, science, history and writing. Libraries are for a lot of people, the first place where they can harness this knowledge.
Libraries hold the knowledge of the world. By allowing members of the public, schools, or specialized groups, to check out and read books they would not have had the chance to read other wise. Many people feel as if libraries are old fashioned and will soon be obsolete because of the eBooks that are coming out. But what they don’t realize is that libraries are not just there to hold books. While they are there for people to use for reading, libraries are for research as well. Without the help of librarians across the world, people would not know the proper way to gain knowledge by research.
Research defines us.

Libraries are the backbone of our world, and are the glue that keeps cultures, societies, and knowledge together. This important institution will be there for us when we need to do research papers, when we need to meet for a group project, or just when we need to get away from the world for a few hours. This is the exact reasoning that we need to keep them in our hearts and minds. Libraries lead to reading books and doing research, and that leads to having the knowledge that we earn and need.
