eBooks and the Fate of the Library
Although a lot of people disagree, the library is not fighting against technology. In fact, libraries embrace it and add to the use of technology! Many people claim this because they believe that information going online will make libraries obsolete. What most people don’t understand is that when information is put online, we still need librarians to organize that information for us. Technology connects us to even more knowledge than ever before available. Technology gives us a wider variety of sources, and we can communicate with people to get even more information on the topic we are researching. At just a press of the button, we can find the information we need. Librarians show us how to find this information. One important way that information has become available to us in the last decade is eBooks.
eBooks are helpful in our research in that we can have access to any of the information contained in any book that we need to find. Most libraries have a large portion of their collection available as eBooks making it accessible for more people. eBooks becoming more and more available to us is a sign that libraries are not only working along side technology but forging ahead and making new connections to bring technology into their world. The Internet connects us to millions of people, and the library helps guide us along with that connection.

Opening the door of knowledge.

A case for libraries
Libraries, before the Internet, had the most information available to the public. The information from the library has had to be published. For it to be published, the information has had to be edited. This makes the information more reliable than the Internet. A lot of sources on the Internet are not as reliable because anyone can write an article and claim what they said it true. Libraries put their information online for everyone to use and they give us access to scholarly journals, whose information is reliable and can be used as a cite in any type of research you need. Libraries sometimes have information that is old enough to not have been put online yet.
I believe that libraries are the best resource that any of us can use. This is because we can do so many things with the library. The library is a resource that we all pitch in to keep running, and we should use it! I don’t think books will ever be phased out, even though some claim that. I believe they will work side by side with technology and improve our knowledge to new heights. This is why the fate and funding of our libraries is extremely important and we should work hard to fight to keep this valuable resource available for all in our community. We need to remember that we can help give back to a resource that has helped our community for as long as we can remember. As long as we have a library card, we have our key to any answer we need.
